Concept:Synergy presents Lazaris

Receiving the Lazaris Events Fliers in PDF format
to be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader

return to Lazaris Events Schedule PDF versions

Welcome to the Lazaris email mailing list!

From now on, you’ll be getting your fliers via email, which allows us to send you more complete information and to include color pictures from recent Lazaris events as well as other color illustrations.

In order to be able to "see" these fliers and all their pictures, you need to download and install a particular program called Adobe Acrobat Reader. This program translates the files we send into a form where you can see them -- and it allows you to easily navigate through the document as well as search for specific words and phrases.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

**Please note there is also a program called Adobe Acrobat that YOU DO NOT NEED. This costs money and is only used to create documents – you only need the Reader program, which is free.

DOWNLOADING & INSTALLING THE LATEST VERSION OF
ADOBE ACROBAT READER

Valuable Tip: Please do read all the instructions first.

If you do, you will have a nice overview of the procedure and the whole downloading thing can go so much more smoothly. We don’t mean to sound glib with this, but please do read all the instructions first. You will be glad you did. [s]

There are just TWO PARTS to this, and you need to do both:

(1) Go to the Adobe Website and Download the correct installer File.

(2) After it’s downloaded, you need to run it to install the Acrobat Reader program. Once you do this, the program will load anytime you open a file that uses it -- known as .PDF files.

Part #1: Downloading the File

1. Connect to the Internet the way you usually do.

2. Then copy or click on this web address:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

3. Follow the three simple steps on that page to select and download the correct installer file for the free Acrobat Reader program. This does take a little bit of time, and how much time will depend on how fast your modem is. If you get bored with this, you can order a CD with the program on it for $14.95, but if you can stick around for the download it’s free [g].

This download is going to give you a file and you need to note the name of the file because as they come out with new versions, the name of this file will change.

Now, downloading is essentially this: Your computer copies the program you’re trying to get to some location in your computer. The real trick here is to notice and WRITE DOWN the location in your computer where this goes. By far, the most common problem with this is that, once it’s downloaded, people don’t know where to go to find it to install it. While you’re downloading, the program will have a window that says, for example, "Copying to c:\windows\temp" or something like that. It doesn’t say the same thing on every computer, and that’s why it’s important to write it down so you can find it when you get ready to install.

Part #2: Installing the File

Now that the installer file has been downloaded, you want to run it.

1) You’re almost ready to install the program. First, you want to close all the rest of the programs you’re running [like Word, Access, Word Perfect, or anything else]. Also, turn off your virus protection.

2) Now you find the installer file so you can run it to install the Acrobat Reader application. The path you wrote down before will show you where to go. If you don’t have this information or you just can’t find the file, use the "Find File" function under Windows [this is available from the start menu button in the lower left corner of your screen] or the Search function on the MAC.

3) When you’ve located the file, just double-click on the filename itself, and the Acrobat Reader program will be installed.

4) When the installation is complete you may be asked to reboot your machine. Go ahead and do that and then restart your virus protection. Usually restarting your machine will automatically restart your virus protection.

You’re all set! When you receive our emails, open the attachment, and your email program should know to use the Acrobat Reader to view it. Alternatively, you can save the attachment as a file, and then open it with the Acrobat Reader.

We are very excited about this way of communicating with you!

************************

One Note: There are two programs by Adobe - one is called "Adobe Acrobat" and it is the creator/editor program which we use to create the PDF versions of the fliers. This program costs money and it is not the program you need. The program you need is called "Adobe Acrobat Reader" and this is a free program that can be downloaded and distributed freely. This is used for viewing and printing all kinds of documents available on the web, from tax forms to product brochures.

As always, call or email if you have any trouble with the technical stuff.

With love,
